About the Artists
Adrienne Wong, Performer
Adrienne Wong creates, performs and produces new work for theatre and radio. Recently she has collaborated as a performer on Gods, Demons and Yogis (Shakti Dance Collective), …lives were around me (battery opera), and her one woman ukulele show Hurted (La Luna Productions). Writing collaborations include The Empty Orchestra (Theatre Replacement), In the Heart of the City downtown eastside community play and Mixie and the Half-breeds (in development for neworld). Favourite projects include devising a miniature play for Box Theatre, playing Scrabble on the radio (North by Northwest, CBC Radio One), and creating interactive letter-writing projects. Adrienne is a graduate of Simon Fraser University's School for the Contemporary Arts and one third of neworld’s Artistic Producing Team.
Sarah Garton Stanley, Director
Director, dramaturge, and theatrical investigator, Sarah co-founded Die In Debt Theatre and the Baby Grand Theatre, and is the former Artistic Director of Buddies in Bad Times Theatre and the inaugural Artistic Associate of the Magnetic North Theatre Festival. Die In Debt is in residence at the Theatre Centre in Toronto where Sarah is developing, with Nick Carpenter, a new piece called Press and is a member of a collective working towards the next phase of Suck and Blow (Absit Omen/ Cahoots). She is in preparation for the premiere of Greg Kramer's Isadora - Fabulist! with Imago Theatre and My Name is Rachel Corrie with Teesri Duniya/neworldtheatre. Upcoming: Sarah is directing The Retreat From Moscow (Neptune Theatre) and Forever Yours Marylou (Centaur Theatre). Sarah's work has been nominated for and/or won several awards. Most recently she was nominated for the Siminovitch Award for Directing. Sarah teaches at Concordia University and co-helms the Directing Program at the National Theatre School of Canada.
Marcus Youssef, Collaborating Director
A graduate of NTS, and a member of neworldtheatre’s Artistic Producing Team, Marcus most recently conceived and directed It’s All About You for Studio 58 in Vancouver. His plays, many co-written with his long-time collaborators Camyar Chai and Guillermo Verdecchia, include A Line in the Sand (Chalmer’s Award), Ali and Ali and the aXes of Evil, Adrift (Magnetic North Theatre Festival, Alcan Award), True Lies (Rumble, High Performance Rodeo), Come Back to the 7-11, Judy Blume, Judy Blume, and Apathy House. Ali and Ali, A Line in the Sand, and Adrift are all published by Talonbooks. Next Marcus’ll be working on a radio series pilot in development for CBC, co-creating News of the World with Felix Culpa in Vancouver and creating a new installation with Wong and maybe Chai for neworld/HIVE2 at the 08 Magnetic North Theatre Festival.
Ana Cappelluto, Set/costume/Prop Design
is based in Montréal. Her designs have travelled to numerous international festivals including Londrina International Festival, Brazil, Singapore Arts Festival, Valencia International Arts Festival, Venezuela, Spoleto Festival, Florida, Festival Teatro a Mil, Santiago, Chile, Festival International des Théâtres Francophones, Limoges, France and Aoyama Round Theatre, Tokyo, Japan. In Québec she works with many independent companies including Black Theatre Workshop, Porte Parole, Dulcinea Langfelder & Co, Imago Theatre, Pigeon International and Théâtre Le Clou. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Theatre at Concordia University, Montréal.
Itai Erdal- lighting Designer
Itai has designed over 90 shows in the past six years, for theatre and dance companies in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, Tel Aviv, London and New York. He has been nominated to numerous theatre awards, winning a Jessie in ‘03, the Jack King award in ’05 and a Dora award in ’07. Please visit: www.itaierdal.com to view his work. Peter Cerone,Sound Design
Peter Cerone has designed and engineered sound for theatre and installations since 1980. He began his career in Rome, working for 10 years at the National Theatre of Rome (Teatro Argentino). There he worked with directors such as Maurizio Scaparro, Luca Ronconi, and Federico Tiezzi. Peter began working for Robert Wilson in 1992 with G.A. Story, an installation celebrating the work of fashion designer Giorgio Armani. Since this time he has designed extensively for Robert Wilson including the theatrical works Persephone, Wings on Rock, Lady From the Sea, The Days Before, Relative Light, I La Galigo, and Rumi – in the Blink of the Eye and installations: Voom Videoportraits, Aichi Expo 2005, G. Armani/Guggenheim, 14 Stations, Villa Stuck, and Annais Room. He has also worked with Peter Greenaway on 100 Objects and Wash and Travel, and continues to collaborate on new projects. Since returning to Montreal in 2000, Peter has continued working international and started collaborations with Canadian artists.
Candelario Andrade (León, México)
Candelario has experience in radio broadcasting, video and comics. He has a BA in Communication Sciences and is interested in live mixing, visual design and editing video. Upcoming adventures in theatre include Clark and I Somewhere in Connecticut (Theatre Replacement/Rumble Productions) and Tiny Apocalypse (Rough House Theatre). Jesse Ash, Audio/Video Systems design
A native of New Brunswick Jesse is a graduate of Technical Production at the National Theatre School of Canada (2007) and of OIART's (London ON) Audio Engineering. Program (2002). Focusing largely on Audio Engineering and Sound Design for theatre he worked in and around his home province before coming to Montreal to attend the NTSC. Some highlights from that time include Head of Sound for the Fredericton Playhouse (2002-03) and Technical Director for Live Bait Theatre (2003). More recently he has found himself Sound Designing in Montreal and Toronto and working seasonally with Just for Laughs, St-Ambroise Montreal Fringe, and Stratford Festivals
Jody Burkholder, Production Manager/ Technical Director
is proud to return to Teesri Duniya theatre for their 2007-2008 season as their Production Manager. He has also worked in the capacity of Technical Director for various companies around Montreal including: MainLine Theatre, The Saidye Bronfman Centre, Imago Theatre, infinitheatre and John Rennie High School. He has also enjoyed working as a Lighting Designer under the direction of Frances Belanzano (Heaven, Quills) and Zach Fraser (Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde). He does it all for Poe.
Beatrice Campbell, Stage Manager
Miss Campbell has been stage managing for 15 years. Highlights include: Four seasons at the Shaw Festival, ten years with 2 Pianos, 4 Hands – two Canadian tours, one US tour, productions in Toronto, New York, Washington DC, Albany NY, Laguna Beach and Tokyo. Sarah-Marie Langlois, Apprentice Stage Manager
Born in Toronto, Sarah-Marie moved to Quebec in 2003 to attend Bishop’s University and then to Montreal a year and a half ago to pursue a career in stage management. In the past year and a half Sarah-Marie’s been a busy girl! Selected Montreal credits include Le Gros Spectacle (Wind-up Dames Theatre), That Woman (Talisman Theatre), The Lady Smith (Black Theatre Workshop), That Woman (Infinitheatre) and Gas (Infinitheatre). Many thanks to Teesri and New World for bringing such a special project to fruition!
Jasmine Scarf, Production Assistant
Originally from Vancouver, Jasmine recently completed a degree in Theatre and Development from Concordia University. Over the past year she has been involved in the theatre for human rights project ‘Rights Here!’ which provided her with the opportunity to study street theatre in India and participate in a community based theatre project this summer in Montreal’s Park Extension neighborhood.

Jon Elmer is a Canadian freelance writer and photojournalist specializing in the Middle East. He has researched and reported from the West Bank and Gaza Strip-based in Jenin and Gaza City – during the al-Aqsa intifada(2003), following Israel’s “disengagement” from the Gaza Strip (2005), and during the sanctions regime and factional strife (2007).
